Congrats to Green Pest Services Scholarship Winners!
Green Pest Services’ main focus is on providing you with stellar service and satisfaction guaranteed pest control. However, we also take and pride ourselves in community support and commitment to education. To demonstrate this, we decided to start a scholarship fund where we help a lucky high school graduate with their college education. Much to our surprise, not only did we receive so many incredible applications to our scholarship program, we were blown away by the brilliance of these young minds that we couldn’t pick just one candidate. After careful consideration, Green Pest Services has awarded the following FOUR high school seniors an excellence scholarship:
Devante Ralph for the Green Pest Services Scholarship
Devante recently graduated from Cambridge-South Dorchester high school and has been accepted to study at Rutgers University this fall. He plans on majoring in business administration and minoring in computer science. Devante describes himself as a well-rounded student athlete with accomplishments in the CSDHS varsity football team as a freshman, playing all four years for the Vikings. He also played lacrosse for two seasons and not only becoming their star athlete, he was also an honor roll student. He is considering playing sports at the college level.
Outside of school, Devante is very involved in organizations that help his community where he organized a jean drive that donated hundreds of pairs of jeans to homeless shelters as well as participating in church food and clothing drives for the past 4 years. Devante also volunteers with the Cambridge Fire Department. This ambitious young man sees himself owning a business in the future and hopes to give back to his hometown by providing its people with quality jobs. He believes that the greatest good he can do is empower others.
This summer, Devante plans on working at Dominos and Riverview at the Point Restaurant to save money for school. He will continue his involvement in church activities and volunteer work with the fire department until he leaves for school. He’ll probably spend some quality time with his little brother too. We are glad to support Devante in his higher education and know he will be a valuable contributor wherever he goes.
Green Pest Services has awarded an excellence scholarship to Emily Carnochan
Emily is a graduating senior from North Caroline High School in Ridgely and has been accepted to study at York College of Pennsylvania this fall. She plans on majoring in sports management while playing collegiate soccer. Emily is a natural leader and a prime example of a student athlete. She maintained a 4.0 GPA and participated in various school associations along with being involved with National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and Future Educators Association. Soccer has been a lifelong pastime for Emily who was a 4 year varsity soccer player. She made All-Bayside Soccer 1st Team and was an All-State Honorable Mention in 2014 while serving as a senior captain on her community rec league.
When she wasn’t playing, Emily worked part-time as a soccer referee, even doing volunteer coaching for the boys and girls soccer teams at Lockerman Middle School. She will keep that tradition going as she plays Division III soccer in the competitive Capital Athletic Conference.
This summer, Emily will begin an intense training and conditioning program for the upcoming soccer season while working at the Culinary Arts Center to save up money for school expenses. She hopes to manage a recreational facility after college where she will organize and manage sports events for children of all ages to promote living an active lifestyle. Emily Carnochan has shown a commitment to excellence both in class and on the field that the Green Scholarship represents. We congratulate you and wish you the best at school. Go Spartans!
