Drywood Termites 101
Drywood Termites measure about 7/16 inches long and are usually a light yellow to black color. Their wings are clear or smoky gray and have three heavy veins along the edge. Also on their wings are cross veins which resemble trapezoidal shapes. You will hardly ever see Drywood termites, as these pests like to hide out in undetected areas such as behind the walls or under wooden floors. The only times they come out is while they are repairing work or infesting homes. They are usually out in the summer months and live inside of wood, never getting in contact with soil. The moisture that they do get comes from the humid air which is why they are normally found in areas with this type of weather.
