What Gear do Pest Control Technicians Use?
Pest control utilizes a series of techniques, tools, and products to protect homes and businesses from invasive pests. In this blog, we explore the different tools/equipment/gear that they use for general pest control services.
Personal Protection Equipment
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) keep our employees safe on the job. A lot of pest control treatments involve chemicals and, while they may be safe as soon as they are dry, during the moment of application they can be risky for people to have contact with them or breathe them in. Furthermore, there are a number of pests that can even pose a threat including stinging pests and rodents (as they carry a variety of dangerous diseases). PPE provides technicians with protection and safety when encountering all kinds of situations on the job. At Green Pest Services, our technicians are armed with the following PPE:
- Mass
- Gloves
- Uniforms
- Close-toed Shoes
- Respirators
- Safety Goggles
- Bee suit (**as needed for severe stinging pest infestations)

Tools
“An exterminator is only as good as his tools.” This old saying is actually more or less true. One of the main reasons people seek to hire pest control is that we possess the correct professional-grade tools to eliminate pests both safely and effectively. After all, you wouldn’t want a pest control company to roll up to your home with a few simple traps purchased from your local Walmart.
At Green Pest Services, you technician will typically be armed with the following:
- Flashlights – to look under decks/porches, in gaps, attics, or other dark areas
- Pole (45-50ft) – to reach high areas (this is paired with several different attachments for different purposes)
- Pole Attachments – Aerosol, brush, or fogger
- B & G – small spray container typically used for indoor treatments (holds up to 1 gallon of product)
- Birchmeier – large spray container for outdoor treatments (holds up to 4.5 gallons of product)
- Rodent Bait Stations – these are boxes with rodent bait
- Sicky traps – these are small traps used as monitors for large infestations such as roaches

Your Technician’s Knowledge, Expertise, and Licensing
While this might not be traditional “gear,” this is an imperative tool for technicians to provide excellent and effective pest control services. At Green Pest Services, our technicians are trained and licensed, and many of them also have years of experience treating for pests that have helped them hone their skills to provide unparalleled services.
