Garden spiders earned their name from the location they love most, the garden. They are also found outdoors in areas that are easy to web such as open fields, eaves of your home, and in tall vegetation. Garden spiders are black or brown and their abdomen is filled with yellow spots. There are red and yellow bands on their legs which is another distinct feature. When these pests build their webs it will usually be about two to eight feet above the ground where there is less traffic. They are not on the hunt to attack humans, they are really looking to build their web and catch their prey which are insects. Garden spiders are venomous creatures, but their bite is not life threatening. At most, you will feel a small amount of discomfort in the affected area.
